Metal casting is one of the much-desired but severely underwrought capabilities of the Fab Labs. Here's some experimentation we did with casting tin, which has a very low melting point compared to most other metals.

The polyurethane casts have a melting point very close to the melting point of tin, so they are slightly damaged by casting tin in them but not so severely that it isn't possible to use them. Plaster casts are okay too, but that means you need to start the process off with a negative rather than a positive mold.
