Other channels of communication for Fab Labs

There are many channels of communication that Fab Labs can use:

  • Listservs. These can be very useful for coordinating committees and for making sure that e-mail inquires are answered. Universities often provide this service, so this can be For Fab Labs that are associated with a university.
  • Google Groups, Yahoo Groups, etc. These services provide listserv functionality, as well as several complimentary services such as shared photos and some file storage that are useful for coordinating a team of volunteers.
  • Social networking sites like Facebook can be used for a variety internal and external communication, provided that all of core people in the Fab Lab can be convinced to sign up.
  • Personal relationships between members of different labs.
