I grew up on a farm in a swamp on the Canadian border in northern Minnesota. Get your kids making things - food, growing vegetables, sewing, painting, woodworking - anything. These activities stimulate mental development in a way that modern education and life frequently doesn't. Children who have these experiences have an improved way of thinking and problem solving that will serve them well in life.
