Blender 2.49a

Blender is a free software 3D graphics program, available for many operative systems, for example GNU/Linux, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. Among the features there are UV editing, animation tools, game engine with a physics simulator, video editor and many modeling tools. It has a fast development, and recent versions of Blender added sculpting and GLSL shading, improvements to the water simulation and big improvements to hair and fur rendering.

History

Blender was developed by the Dutch animation studio NeoGeo and Not A Number Technologies (NaN). It was initially distributed as shareware, but when NaN went bankrupt in 2002 it's community bought the source code for a one-time payment of €100,000. Today it is licenses under the GNU General Public License, and is insured by the Blender Foundation.
