My first 3D scan

So today we got an assignment to scan something for the 3D printer with our cameras. I really didn't have any object to scan, so I decided to make an origami. I will now guide you step by step through the process. It will not be smooth sailing for me, since I have never made anything like this before. But I survived the laser and vinyl cutters so maybe I'll get through this too.

Step 1. Monday 25.1.2016 11.00(ish)

So first things first, making the origami. I used to do a lot of origami but now I found myself looking for instruction on how to make a crane. A crane. I feel like a noob. But google helped and i managed to get a crane made. The problem in scanning with pictures is, that white objects don't scan well. Which colored paper I used then you ask? White. Of course. 'Cause I don't think ahead apparently. I solved the white issue by coloring the vital edges black with a permanent marker so camera would have more reference points. I then rigged my"art piece" to the table with a clamp, tuned the lighting and started to take shots. I ended up with 28 pictures that I'm now trying to download to Dropbox. The WiFi has some issues today so it's painfully slow, but we'll get there. I hope.

UPDATE: At 12.03 I have finally managed to download all the pictures to Dropbox. Now I have to download them to the computer and then to the 123D Catch program. So not even nearly there yet.
