Last saturday we went to the Reynisfjara black sand beach in Vik. There was a huge sign saying "Dangerous sneaker waves" and the sign was not there in vain. But we managed to collect some nice incredibly smooth rocks from the shore. Today I started experimenting on them to see how they engrave. I did three trials first, and gave them a good wash to see how well they actually engraved. I used epilog's default marble settings for the first trials, and I have the other sides left to do second test before I get to the huge stone which i don't wish to ruin.

I edited one of my photos from the beach and used that in the design for the bigger rocks. The engravings turned out much better than i expected, i am still going to tweak the settings a bit but it was amazing to see how well you can engrave rocks with laser.
