Fab Lab Boot Camp Week of January 10, 2011
Lorain Community College
Elyria, OH
Fab Lab Gurus (Instructors): Scott, Kayleen & Noah
Students: Incite Focus Fab Lab (Detroit, MI) Natalie, Blair, Sal, Tom, Josh, Gwen & Susan; Lake Michigan College Fab Lab (Niles, MI) John
How I got here...I am the Career Exposure Coordinator at Blanche Kelso Bruce Academy in Detroit, MI. I was invited to attend to learn what a Fab Lab IS and DOES in order to connect the world of work experiences I plan for the students to the Fab Lab possibilities.
Experience:I did not have any prior experience in the Fab Lab or with the product design and construction process. Initially, I was a little anxious about my limited knowledge of the technical skills, but was very excited about the creative possibilities!
What I learned...To quote Alberstein Einstein, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”
