This is a bit annoying, but it seems the only way to keep an open wiki... Until the spammers give up. On [http://hitchwiki.org/ Hitchwiki] and [http://trashwiki.org/ Trashwiki] the community has been very fast with deleting spam so the spammers kinda gave up I think. Fighting the spam
reCAPTCHA helps, but not enough. Captchas are outsourced for a couple of cents and the black hat spammers are still making money this way... I've recently seen similar spam on a couple of some wikis I'm maintaining. I suggest setting $wgSpamRegexp in LocalSettings.php to something like
$wgSpamRegex = "/trojan|diet|weight-loss|jobs|career|job|viagra|porn|phentermine|free-resumes|playmate|erotic|valium|xanax|FIELD.(OTHER|MESSAGE)|babacar/i";
