Michalis Georgiou is a lecturer in the Architecture Department at the University of Nicosia [A.R.C.] in the field of Digital Design and Fabrication.

He has received his MSc in Adaptive Architecture and Computation from the Bartlett UCL in 2006 and his diploma in architecture from the National Technical University of Athens in 2005. He is currently a PhD candidate at the National Technical University of Athens, a practicing architect and a founding member of HUB, design and engineering platform.

Before moving on to realize his own professional collaborations and projects, Michalis has worked with E Constandinidou architects in Athens and Foster + Partners in London, where he has been a member of the Specialist’s Modelling Group. He has participated in a number of architectural competitions where he and his team have won a 1st prize for the new town hall of Derynia in Cyprus and a 2nd prize for the new town hall of Messolongi in Greece. He is a registered Architect both in the UK and Cyprus.

Michalis is also a specialist tutor at the Bartlett UCL, in the Adaptive Architecture and Computation Master Course, and he has organized and tutored in workshops on Parametric/Associative and Interactive Design. In addition, he has published papers and participated in international conferences and workshops related to digital technologies.

His current research focuses in applying computational tools as the means for managing information to assist and enrich the early stages of design. In parallel he is exploring the potential of digital technologies for resolving socio-economic conflicts in an urban context. As such, the town of Famagusta presents a unique case study and an ongoing project for Michalis since 2004.
