Final project - Interactive square
Concept Make interactive square behind our Fab Lab in the center of town Vestmannaeyjar. Have sensors around the square and respond on projector/monitor, lights or speakers depending on peoples behavior. Make the square fun, interactive and educational about the islands, Fab projects and other innovation projects. For the final project for the Fab Academy, first version of the Interactive square will be made.
First version introduced in June 2010
First version will only include sonar range proximity sensor connected with board with speakers. The idea is that the sonar will sense the distance where people are and play different musical tones depending on the distance. It is supposed to be a kind of piano generated by location of people or subjects.

Two sonars will be connected to a board and one will send wave signals while the other will receive wave signals. The board should measure distance between the board and subject, the distance should be expressed with musical tone.

Distribution plan
For the final project I will post the code, schematics and plans how to make this.
Then I really want to develop the idea further. Make first interactive square in Iceland behind our Fab Lab. Collaborate with local companies in IT and local flagstone maker and develop knowledge based cluster around these things. Promote in national TV. Make Youtube videos available and make website with better information and opportunities how to make these types of squares. Develop business plan around the idea.
