Alumamark Material Test
We found some samples of Alumamark and Durablack from the storage room and I got the task of trying out them on the laser cutter.
The materials are aluminium products where a special coating has been applied on the surface. When you mark the material with laser cutter, the surface is burnt away, leaving a different coloured surface behind. It was fairly straightforward and easy to use, and I quite liked the end result.
I made a test pattern of appropriate size for the samples we had, checked for potential optimal settings for the laser cutter model we have here and then had three opportunities to test.
The first test didn't have enough power and was slightly too fast. I rather like the brown-ish quality against gold though. Also the placement was a tad off. The second one I got the settings correct, but once again mucked up the placement. Third test on Durablack was just perfect!
