Had a career in innovation and technology assessment. Helped to start Waag Society in 1997. Became involved at the first experimental Fablab in the Netherlands at 'El Hema' in 2007. Since then promoting the FabLab concept. Currently 'fab-catalyst' at Protospace, the Utrecht Fablab. Built 3D printers: a Fab-at-Home, a RepRap and an Ultimaker. From a Fab point of view however the lasercutter is far more useful and important. I am exploring the feasibility of low cost fablab equipment for the home/school setting see www.fablab.nl/articles/2011/01/03/mini-fablab Concluded that a great contribution to the proliferation of fabbing would be an open source driver for (smaller) lasercutters. Therefore I support www.laoslaser.org. Mid 2014 the minifablab is evolving from a makerspace to a place to discuss small fab equipment and the 10K fablab.
