Blender is an open source software 3D modeling program, available for various operative systems. Among the features there are UV editing, animation tools, video editor and a game engine with physics simulator. Blender is still in development, and recent versions of Blender has added sculpting and GLSL shading, improvements to the water simulation and big improvements to hair and fur rendering. It was initially distributed as shareware, but when NaN went bankrupt in 2002 it's community bought the source code for a one-time payment of €100,000.
